Professional Contact Lens Fitting:

See Clearly Comfortably

Finding the right contact lenses for maximum comfort and clear vision

Our eye doctors at Mt. Baker Vision Clinic, serving Bellingham, Lynden, and Ferndale, evaluate and fit contact lenses for children, teens, and adults of all ages. Some infants and young children will need contact lenses as medically necessary treatment for their eye conditions. Many children and teens choose contact lenses in addition to their glasses for sports, activities, and school. Our optometrists routinely fit contact lenses for nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), astigmatism, and near focusing problems (presbyopia).

Beyond routine cases, we evaluate and fit specialty contact lenses for patients in the Bellingham, Lynden, and Ferndale area with:

  • High prescriptions
  • High astigmatism
  • Dry eye
  • Multifocal needs

Dr. Koning has a particular interest in specialty contact lenses, including:

  • Customized contact lens needs
  • Tinted or prosthetic contact lenses
  • Orthokeratology (corrective lenses worn overnight)
  • Contact lenses for irregular corneas
  • Contact lenses for traumatically damaged eyes
  • Contact lenses for problems after eye surgery

In addition to your eyeglasses prescription, the contact lens prescription parameters (which is different from the glasses Rx), need to be determined, and the shape of your eye needs to be evaluated in order to ensure that the contact lens will fit properly. Often times, a patient needs to wear a lens for several days or weeks in order to evaluate their ability to adapt to the vision and comfort contact lenses provide.

Thankfully, we live in a day when significantly better contact lens materials are available compared to even 5-10 years ago. This new technology allows us to successfully fit patients who may have been unsuccessful with contact lenses in the past. Ask our technicians or doctors at Mt. Baker Vision Clinic in Ferndale, Lynden and Bellingham if contacts may be a good option for you!
