Dr. Tracy Gose

Compassionate, personable, and insightful, Dr. Tracy Gose is committed to delivering personalized, comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Iowa and completed her Doctor of Optometry at Pacific University in Oregon. Dr. Gose further advanced her expertise through a residency in low vision and ocular disease at the Lebanon VA Medical Center in Pennsylvania, where she had the honor of serving veterans and discovered a lasting passion for medical Optometry and teaching.

Following her residency, Dr. Gose practiced at a high-volume referral center in Phoenix, Arizona, focusing on ocular disease and post-operative care. She has served as adjunct clinical faculty for several universities and has mentored over 35 future optometrists. In 2022, she joined the medical education board for Eyecare Partners, contributing to continued professional development across the network.

Dr. Gose provides care across a wide range of eye conditions, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, dry eye, and neuro-ophthalmic disorders. She also offers specialty contact lens fittings and low vision rehabilitation.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Gose enjoys snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and gardening with her husband and their dog, Ollie.

Dr. Hannah Joyner

Passionate, empathetic, and detail-oriented, Optometrist Dr. Hannah Joyner is devoted to providing quality patient care with clear communication. She is a PNW native who grew up in Bellevue and completed her undergraduate degree in biology and anthropology, with a minor in psychology, at Western Washington University. Dr. Joyner graduated from the Arizona College of Optometry in 2020 and has been practicing at MBVC ever since.

In addition to caring for patients with routine medical eye conditions, Dr. Joyner finds great satisfaction in helping people recover sight from ocular diseases such as keratoconus and post-Lasik ectasia by fitting specialty contact lenses. Dr. Joyner maintains an interest in continued learning and inspiring the next generation of optometrists.

As a member of the Bellingham Lions Club, Dr. Joyner regularly volunteers providing free eyecare to those in need and has accompanied the Lions Club on a medical mission trip to El Salvador.

In their free time, Dr. Joyner and her husband, Mark, enjoy taking their daughter, Noelle, and miniature schnauzer, Arlo, on hikes and camping trips. Her ideal night-in consists of embroidery crafting or playing board games with friends.

Dr. Brian Koning

Positive, open, and full of enthusiasm, Optometrist Dr. Koning has a zest for adventure and an easy-going manner that is a joy to his patients. Growing up on a small dairy farm in Idaho and fighting wildfires during the summers, he completed his undergrad degree at Dordt University in Iowa. In 2004 he graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry with distinction, and went on to complete a medically based residency at the VA Hospital and Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City, UT. He was honored in 2009 to be named Washington’s Young Optometrist of the Year, and in 2020 became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He has also participated in specialty contact lens research for industry.

His professional expertise lies in primary eye care for the whole family, challenging & medically necessary contact lens cases, and ocular disease such as diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.

Dr. Brian Koning has participated in numerous humanitarian eye care trips to Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Ethiopia, and is active with the No-Cost Frank Haskell Lions Eye Clinic. He previously served on the Lighthouse Mission Ministries Board of Directors, is active in his local church and his kids’ school, and periodically consults and participates in contact lens research. He and his wife, Melissa, children Abee, Brenna, John, Zachariah, and English Cream retriever WillowLena, enjoy backpacking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, gardening, nature photography, and game nights at home.

Dr. Steven Koning

Kind, thoughtful, and even-mannered, Optometrist Dr. Steven Koning is considerate, helpful, and shows a warm concern for others. Growing up in Southern Idaho, playing football and basketball in High School, and fighting wildfires in the summers to put himself through school, he obtained his undergrad degree at Dordt University, and graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2011. He then completed a residency in ocular disease and primary eye care at the Northern Indiana Veterans Affairs Health Care Center, where he also served as an adjunct assistant clinical professor at Michigan College of Optometry and Indiana University College of Optometry.

His professional expertise lies in managing medical eye conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, co-managing surgical cases such as Lasik and cataracts, as well as specialty contact lenses. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Optometric Association and Optometric Physicians of Washington.

Dr. Steven Koning has participated in overseas medical service projects to places as far away as Kenya. He and his wife Stacy, daughters Anabelle and Emberlyn, and rescue puppy Cisco enjoy hiking, camping, running, biking, and spending time with family and friends. After working at private practices in Reno and Denver, they are happy to call Whatcom County home

Dr Sepideh Sabet

Dr. Sepideh Sabet

Calm, compassionate, and deeply caring, Dr. Sabet is passionate about ensuring every patient feels heard, valued, and well-cared for. Originally from Iran, she lived in many different places before her family settled in Whatcom County when she was in middle school. She earned her undergraduate degree from Western Washington University in 2014 and went on to graduate from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2019.

With a passion for providing comprehensive eye care for individuals of all ages, Dr. Sabet helps improve her patients’ quality of life—from prescribing glasses and contacts to managing complex eye conditions like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Her gentle approach and attention to detail make her a trusted provider for patients of all ages.

When she’s not caring for her patients, Dr. Sabet contributes to initiatives that promote vibrant and resilient neighborhoods through activities organized by the Baha’i community. She also values contributing to global eyecare and has participated in an eye care mission to Nicaragua. Dr. Sabet enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband Adam, their son Soren, and their dog Toby. Together, they love hiking, visiting friends and family, and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Jeff Ness

Enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated, Dr. Jeff Ness has a passion for learning and has taken an active role in mentoring the next generation of eyecare professionals as an adjunct clinical professor for Pacific University. Dr. Ness’ Pacific Northwest roots run deep. After attending high school locally, he completed his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Pacific University and graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2020. While in school, he was involved as a Trustee of the American Optometric Student Association. He holds a leadership position with the Optometric Physicians of Washington and is a member of the American Optometric Association. He is also a member of the Lynden Kiwanis and volunteers with the Bellingham Lions Club to provide no-charge eyecare.

Following graduation, Dr. Ness worked for two years as an eyecare provider in Boise, ID. He has a special interest in pediatric care, ocular disease management, ocular surgery co-management, and fitting specialty contact lenses. Dr. Ness is fluent in Spanish and welcomes all ESL patients.

When not working, Dr. Ness and his wife, Chascity, embrace the many blessings our region has to offer including crabbing and exploring other wonders of the outdoors. They love spending quality time with family and friends, usually through board game nights. They enjoy church involvement, from volunteering to summer softball. With their daughter, Emersyn, and their two black labs, they are always on their toes! They’re happy to call Whatcom County home.

Dr. Wayne Musselman – Emeritus

Friendly, exuberant, and personable, Dr. Musselman has a cheerful disposition and is refreshingly relaxed with people. A native of Delaware, he earned his undergrad degree from the University of Delaware in 1974, and a Doctorate in Optometry in Southern California in 1978.

He has practiced at Mt. Baker Vision Clinic since 1978, providing full-scope eye care for the whole family. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Optometric Physicians of Washington. In 1995, Dr. Musselman distinguished himself by gaining Fellowship into the American Academy of Optometry.

During the fall of 2020, Dr. Musselman made the difficult decision to retire from serving patients after 42 years of service, and now enjoys spending time with his family and restoring antique cars in his spare time.

Dr. Jeff Larson – Emeritus

Curious, thoughtful, and easygoing, Optometrist Dr. Larson is an unassuming man whose caring personality and huge heart is infectious to those around him. A native Oregonian, he graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1980.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Dr. Larson was first stationed on the East Coast. Dr. Larson and his wife Sharon returned to the West Coast in 1984 and found that Bellingham offered a great place to raise a family, and has been serving patients at Mt Baker Vision Clinic ever since.

He became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 1995. He is active in Christian Ministry at home and abroad, and frequently travels to an orphanage and medical clinic in Haiti.
