Advanced Eye Exam Technology Available in Lynden, Bellingham, and Ferndale
At our offices in Lynden, Bellingham, and Ferndale, your eye examination will be conducted by caring, certified optometrist professionals. They will use the latest information and technology available to assess your needs and ensure you receive the best possible care.
We are committed to providing our patients with the most advanced eye exam technology available. This includes:
Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT)
- This non-invasive technology uses light to create detailed images of the eye’s internal structures, including the retina, optic nerve, and macula.
- OCT is used to diagnose and monitor a variety of eye conditions, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
- We frequently use OCT for early diagnosis and treatment of these conditions, helping our patients in Lynden, Bellingham, and Ferndale maintain their vision.
Digital Retinal Imaging (DRI)
- This technology combines retinal photography with digital imaging, allowing for instant viewing of high-resolution retinal images.
- DRI eliminates the need for dilation drops and provides a more accurate and detailed view of the retina compared to traditional methods.
- We use DRI to document any existing eye disease and establish baseline images for future comparisons, allowing for early detection of vision problems.
- Insurance companies will reimburse for some of these procedures only when there is an existing retinal disease which the photos are documenting. We offer digital retinal imaging as a powerful way of viewing your central retina without the need for dilation. When used as part of your comprehensive exam, our baseline screening imaging (when no disease is present) is $39.
Corneal Topographer
- This instrument maps the surface curvature of the cornea, helping to diagnose and monitor conditions such as keratoconus, corneal scars, and corneal transplants.
- The information provided by the corneal topographer is also valuable for fitting specialized contact lenses, including Ortho-K lenses for patients in Lynden, Bellingham Ferndale and the greater Whatcom county area.
Visual Field Analysis
- This test measures the sensitivity of your central and peripheral vision.
- It is used to detect a variety of conditions, including glaucoma, stroke, brain tumors, and vision blocked by droopy eyelids.
- We include a basic visual field analysis as part of our standard exam for all patients and offer more in-depth versions for those suspected of having eye disease.
By investing in the latest eye exam technology, we are able to provide our patients in Lynden, Bellingham, and Ferndale with comprehensive and accurate eye care. This allows us to diagnose and treat eye conditions early, helping to preserve vision and prevent vision loss.
